The Ernst Gallery has been acting for more than 20 years as the “travelling ambassador” of Hungarian art. Its aim is to introduce Hungarian painters to the international context, namely to private and public collections in Hungary and abroad as well.

The Gallery works close with museums and institutions and has been continuously lending many artworks to: Musée d’Orsay Paris, Berlinische Galerie Berlin, Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna Rome, Musée d’Art Moderne de Céret, Musée Matisse Le Cateau-Cambrésis, Musée des Beaux-arts de Dijon, Hôtel de Ville de Bruxelles, Belvedere Wien, Kunstforum Wien, Hofburg Wien, Wolfsonian Miami, LA County Museum Los Angeles, Lincoln Center New York, furthermore to local museums among others: Fine Arts Museum, Hungarian National Gallery, Hungarian National Museum, Museum of Applied Arts, Rippl-Rónai Museum, Jannus Pannonius Museum Pécs.

In 2008 Ernst René Wastl was honored with the Cross of Merit of the Republic of Austria, Gold Class (Goldenes Verdienstzeichen der Republik Österreich) by the Federal President of Austria Dr. Heinz Fischer. The honor was given for his work in strengthening cultural relations between the Republics of Austria and Hungary.

Ernst René Wastl was awarded the Cross of Merit by the V. District Municipality of Belváros-Lipotváros Budapest Capital City for his outstanding activities in the promotion of Hungarian art and culture.
